PhotoSynthesis, 317 Main Street, has designed items that celebrate Ames, Iowa.  Called “Ames Perspectives”, these items feature local amateur and pro photographers.  You can choose from art prints in any size, postcards, folded notecards and calendars.  For the current Ames Perspectives, the photos were chosen from images shot during the annual "PhotoWalk".  Future photos will be chosen by popular vote through the PhotoSynthesis Facebook page.  All proceeds for all Ames Perspectives items will be donated for downtown projects like plantings and plant displays --- anything that brings more ‘photosynthesis’ to town!

Photo Contest Rules:
-One photo entry for each event duration (duration will depend on number of entries)
-One vote per person counted per photo
-Submitted photos should feature a ‘perspective’ of Ames and be taken in Ames.  Photos might feature:  the arts, transportation, ISU, shopping, industry, architecture, recreation, diversity, culture…anything that celebrates Ames!
-Any submitted winning photos may be used in upcoming materials that market the Ames Perspectives calendar project.  If used, submitted photos will include photographer credit.
-Photos can be manipulated, but graphics or wording should not be added to a photo
-Photos can include people, but only if faces are not shown

TO ENTER:  Go to the PhotoSynthesis Facebook page.  You'll need to have a facebook account.  Look for the 'events' tab at the top of the page and click on it.  Find the current month's photo contest event and click on it.  Sign up for the event and you'll be able to add a photo to the event.  Only one photo per photographer per event. You can submit a photo for voting any time up to the end time of the event.  Of course, the earlier you post, the more votes you can get!  Once you post, tell everyone you know to vote for your photo!

TO VOTE:  You'll need to have a Facebook account in order to access our page.  Once you are on the PhotoSynthesis FB page, look for the "Events" tab and click on it.  Find the current months photo contest event and view the submitted photos for the event.  After you find your favorite photo on the PhotoSynthesis Facebook page from the submitted photos, add a comment to that photo that says 'vote' or something of that nature.  Only the first vote per photo per person will be counted.

DON'T HAVE, or DON'T WANT a FACEBOOK PAGE?  At this time, the only way for us to manage photos and votes is through Facebook.  Can we suggest getting a free email address from gmail just to use to create a Facebook page?  You don't need to use Facebook other than to post photos and/or vote for photos.  And if you don't want people to find you, you can even use a made-up name to start a Facebook page as long as the email address is real and can be confirmed.  You'll just need to tell me who are you if you win! :)  Sorry for the trouble; we do hope to have the capability to manage the contest on our website in the future.
